I have to warn you though that the procedure i’m going to share with you here may not work for all kinds of laptop batteries. Also, when reviving the laptop battery, we cannot restore it fully as if it were a new battery. But it will have enough capacity to function well for the next years, saving you a lot of money in the process.
Monitor Your Use of Battery
If you start noticing that your laptop battery doesn’t hold a charge for a long period anymore, then it is best that before you attempt to recondition it, you first find out why it is happening to the battery.
There are several tools that can aid you so that you will know the condition and status of your laptop battery. There are computers that have with them a monitoring system for the battery. This is integrated into the operating system of the computer. There are other computers though that may need additional software for you to gain insight into the status of your laptop battery.
Whichever way you choose, these tools will be able to tell you the status of your battery, how long it is expected to last, and how long it ought to last. When you see any discrepancies in the time frames provided by the tools, then you may have to consider repairing your laptop battery.
Know The Battery Type
Once you find out the status of your laptop battery, the next thing to do would be to know the type of battery that your laptop has. You can look at the system preferences of your computer, or you can also look at the battery to see what type of battery it is. This step is important so that you will know if your laptop battery can benefit from being fixed or not.

1. Changing The Power Settings
Before you start rejuvenating your laptop battery, you have to make sure that you change the settings for the power management on your laptop. What this means is that you should deactivate your screen saver or any hibernation or sleep modes. You can change these settings through the system preferences or the control panel.
This may depend on your operating system. What you have to take note of in this process is that you have to allow the battery to be drained completely. So, check your computer settings and change them if it will hinder the success of this process.
2. Charge Your Laptop Battery Fully
In this next step, you simply have to charge your laptop battery fully. Check the indicators on the battery or on the computer if it has been fully charged.
3. Unplug The Laptop
Once you see that the battery has been charged completely, you may now unplug the laptop from the electrical outlet. At this point, you need to leave the laptop battery to be drained of all its charge. This is why it is important to change your power settings at the earlier part of the process because your laptop may hibernate and prevent power from draining.
Check to see if your laptop is running on its battery power. Just let it be drained completely. You can still use your battery in this process. Just be aware of the battery level so that you don’t accidentally lose any of your data when the computer shuts down.
4. Charge The Battery Again
When you have drained the laptop battery completely, and the computer is now out of power. Plug it into the electrical outlet again. Charge it completely. And now you have successfully refurbished your laptop battery. It’s that simple.
5. Resetting Power Management Settings
Now that you can use your computer again, you can now change the power management settings back to your preference. Go to system controls or control panel so you can reactivate the hibernate or sleep feature. These features help the battery to last longer. After this process, continue to monitor your laptop battery so that you can be sure that the reconditioning process has been successful.
6. Changing Laptop Behavior
As i said earlier, not all of the laptop batteries can benefit from this process of reconditioning. If it has not been a success, then it must be because the laptop battery is too old or that there is some damage in it already. If you don’t want to spend money on buying a new laptop battery, there are still other ways that you can continue using your laptop even if the battery is already worn out.
Of course, the simplest way is to adjust your way of using your laptop so that you do not depend on the power coming from the battery. There are a lot of people who use their laptops as if they are desktop computers. The laptops simply remain on the desk and not being moved around. This way, the laptop can remain plugged into an electrical outlet most of the time if not all the time.
